EVE Forms Nihon EVE K.K.

Tsugumi Fujitani Appointed Managing Director

San Jose, Calif., and Palaiseau, France -- October 4, 2004 -- Advanced verification specialist Emulation and Verification Engineering (EVE) today announced the formation of Nihon EVE K.K., a wholly owned subsidiary based in Yokohama. The EVE office in Japan opened October 1, with a staff of three field application engineers (FAE) and two sales managers. EVE Japan will market and support EVE's ZeBu (for "zero bugs") hardware-assisted verification platform and associated software in Japan. Several major companies in Japan have been using ZeBu for more than one year.

In announcing the formation of the subsidiary, Dr. Luc Burgun, EVE's chief executive officer (CEO) and president, also announced the appointment of Tsugumi Fujitani as managing director for EVE's new Japan operations.

Fujitani brings more than 20 years of technical experience in the electronics and electronic design automation (EDA) industry and executive management experience. Previously, she managed Tera Systems' operations in Japan. She was CEO and co-founder of Spinnaker Systems, a leader in digital integrated circuit (IC) design automation technology. Fujitani began her career as an application engineer at Hitachi, Ltd. She moved to Okura, Ltd., where she served as a FAE manager, an exclusive distributor for Xilinx in Japan, affording her extensive experience in an field programmable gate array (FPGA) startup environment.

"The formation of EVE Japan is an important element of our strategic plan to expand our international presence," says Burgun, who adds that Fujitani brings expertise and an understanding of the needs of the Japanese market. "Our ZeBu family has been successful in North America and Europe and it has reached the right level of maturity for efficiently addressing the Japanese market. As we've found elsewhere, Japanese design teams are building large and complex systems on chip with growing software content and will benefit from the verification platforms we offer."

"I was elated when presented with the opportunity to join EVE as head of Japanese operations," remarks Fujitani. "Its hardware-assisted verification technology offers outstanding specifications. The EVE team is cordial, rigorous and impressively smart."
